Tony Cochran Guitars Custom #70
A guy told me he found this guitar in the parking lot of The Red Fox Restaurant in 1975 ... Chicago, I think. "Drill" ... any info on this name would be appreciated. It says "Inmate 33298NE" on the neck. I looked it up and that's Jimmy Hoffa. Didn't know he played the guitar. It still stinks of exploded ordinance and just what is the beastly prosthetic that replaced the apparently vaporized shards? Is Rett Toba, the name inside the guitar, the guy that had it before Hoffa? Did he name it "Drill?'' Rumor has it, he lived in New York near Bob Myer of Bell Labs in 1969. Rett was a break-in artist of much renown back then and Bob was working on some stuff for Mike Matthews. Maybe Rett stole some schematics that were laying around. Personally, I can't figure out the circuitry but, WOW! This is some savage beauty! Sounds great too!
