Why did Moddy Ruzitti call his guitar "Goat?" Goat . . . get someone's goat, lose the game and you're the goat, separate the goats from the sheep. Face it, goat is a derogatory word. Goats are goofy, hooven animals with heads attributed to the face of Satan himself or, at the very least, Baphomet. Moddy was a sad boy in Seattle who grew up into an angry teenager. His temper was legend, but his facility on the guitar was just short of miraculous. It was reputed that he fitted the "Heptapulator" (found just beneath the bridge) to "break chords into pieces of sublime chime." When engaged, any new music spewed made old music sound like rocks sliding down a hill. Those who heard Moddy play claimed he was going to be the "Greatest Of All Time." Hence the name of his guitar, "GOAT." Moddy died in 1957 after showing a few licks to a young man eager to learn. I'm not naming names, but you might recognize the influence of a Heptapulator in the lead break of Dolly Dagger. I'm just saying.
