Steampunk Electric Guitars?

Sometimes I see my electric guitars described as SteamPunk. I like the aesthetics of Steampunk. I like to use old brass, copper, worn beautiful wood, and whites aged to shades of old ivory. Much like Steampunk explores the theme of steam, I like things that explore the theme of hyperelectric. Hyperelectric means hot: it has a smell. It can be used for good or it can go horribly wrong in a heartbeat, scarring circuitry and killing the ungrounded. Punk has a nice ring to it too. The Ramones changed my life back in the late 70s. The word punk sounds like a swear oriented one-syllable nod to irreverence, audaciousness, and defiance. I think that might make punk an appropriate description for some of these guitars. So I like Steampunk, but these are not all steam and they're not all punk. I think Steampunk means cool . . . I'll take that! What would you call it? Steampunk? Hyperelectric? Industrial? Other ideas?

I think you get to call these beautiful suckers whatever you want. They're your creations, baby.

Thanks, Pedro!
Teslapunk is a good name. Has a nice ring to it. I guess in the end people will call them what they want to call them:-)
Thanks for the nice comments!

I stumbled across your work via Performer. This was the last thing I came to after exploring your web site and reading Agnes. I'm with you on labels and for whatever reason, Steampunk rubs me the wrong way. Originally a literary term, it's pretty loosely defined in my mind and seems contrived these days; branding. To wit: "Steampunk is what happens when goths discover brown." - Jess Nevins & then, http://www.steampunk.com/john-mayer-going-steampunk/.

I think your work is highly organic, intuitive and definitively punk. Certainly rock and roll. If I was to cotton to a label, I like Teslapunk! Beautiful craftsmanship. Glad I found this. Aesthetic knockouts.

Thanks for the input, Kim! I also appreciate the nice comments. It's too bad some people need labels in order to describe something. But that's just the way it goes:-) Search engines need keywords to get people to where they want to go. Steampunk works for some of mine, but it's not a perfect fit. I like Teslapunk. Stay in touch.
